Arnold “Big Arnold” Scherer, 56, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012, at his residence after a long illness. He was a veteran with the United States Navy. A native of New Orleans, he lived in St. Charles Parish for the past 13 years.

He is survived by his wife, Rose Silvestri Scherer, two children, Arnold “Little Arnold” Silvestri Jr. and Melissa Scherer Combs, two grandchildren, Brenden Silvestri and Jordan Combs, five siblings, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ivan Scherer and Inez Brockoff.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, at H.C. Alexander Funeral Home in Norco from 4 p.m. until 5 p.m. Memorial services will be held at 5 p.m. at the funeral home with Fr. Terry Becnel officiating.
