RESERVE – More than 100 senior citizens from both the east band and west bank of St. John the Baptist Parish gathered at the Frank G. Lapeyrolerie and Leola Montz Senior Center in Reserve Wednesday for a Christmas-themed lunch served up by employees at Marathon.

The lunch is part of a newly adopted partnership between the senior citizens activity center and the staff at the Garyville refinery that involved spending time with residents and orchestrating events at the activities center.

“Every three months a different group of employees at Marathon will come to the senior center to engage in a lunch or other activity with them,” said Marathon Community Relations representative Aspen Steib. “This time around, it is members of the Global Procurement Department. We want to continue to foster good community development between Marathon and surrounding residents.”

Steib said in addition to spending time with those in attendance, the groups who come out for the quarterly events also come bearing gifts for those citizens celebrating birthdays.
