LAPLACE – Another Black Friday has come and gone, but there are still a few weeks left to get this year’s holiday shopping done.

For some, Black Friday is an annual adventure to get most of the year’s holiday shopping done; for others the mere thought of braving the crowds sends shivers down the spine.

With everyone going about their holiday shopping in his or her own manner, last week L’Observateur asked visitors to its website what their yearly shopping habits are.

Respondents seem not to be too stuck on the Black Friday tradition. More than one-third said they would probably not brave the Black Friday crowds but instead would get their shopping done over the next few weeks. Nearly an equal number of respondents admitted to being among those who search desperately for that perfect gift in the last few days before Christmas.

Less than one-fifth of poll respondents said they planned on taking part in Black Friday.

Not surprisingly, fewer than one-tenth of respondents said they had already finished their shopping.

A full breakdown of results follows:

• 20 percent of respondents chose “I will be hitting the stores on Black Friday.”

• 37 percent of respondents chose “I probably will not brave the Black Friday crowds, but I hope to get my shopping done in the next couple of weeks.”

• 37 percent of respondents chose “I am a last-minute holiday shopper.”

• 7 percent of respondents chose “My shopping is already done.”
