Tusa appointed to southeast tourism board

LAPLACE – River Parishes Tourist Commission Executive Director Jay Tusa was recently installed as a regional board member of the Southeast Tourism Society’s Board of Directors.

Tusa will represent Louisiana on the board, which consists of 12 states throughout the south. His term on the board will last until 2013.

“I am honored to be serving STS, representing Louisiana on this very important regional board,” Tusa said. “This organization has been such a strong tourism advocate on the regional and national level.”

The Southeast Tourism Society, headquartered in Atlanta, was founded in 1983 to promote tourism efforts in Louisiana, Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia. The membership includes state travel offices, attractions, hotels, motels, resorts, convention and visitors bureaus, airlines, car rental agencies, newspapers, magazines and other travel related organizations.

The Board of Directors assists in the development of and the approval of policies, procedures, and regulations to govern the operations of the organization.
