Garyville man wanted in armed robbery

LAPLACE – Authorities in St. John the Baptist Parish are looking for a Garyville man, who allegedly robbed a 69-year-old Reserve man at gunpoint Tuesday morning while he sat in his truck.

An arrest warrant for armed robbery and perpetration of a violent crime against a victim older than 65 has been issued for Devery Pembrook, 21, said Capt. Dane Clement, spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office. Clement said the victim was parked in his truck on the batture side of the levee near the 2900 block of River Road when the robbery occurred.

According to a release from the Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the scene around 9:15 a.m. Tuesday morning, where they met with the victim. The victim told deputies he was sitting in his truck when male subject dressed in black pants, a red and black flannel shirt, and red shoes approached him. The suspect pointed a silver colored handgun at the victim and demanded the victim give him his money. The suspect fled with the victim’s cell phone and an undisclosed sum of money. The victim was not injured during the incident.

Clement said detectives have been actively pursuing Pembrook for his arrest, but have been unable to find him. He said the photograph accompanying this story is not current and added that Pembook’s recent hairstyle has been long dreadlocks.
