United Way holding St. John cook off

The business community of St. John the Baptist Parish is hosting its First annual Jambalaya and Gumbo Cook-Off to support the St. John United Way. The event will be held Thursday, Nov. 3, at San Francisco Plantation in Garyville from 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. The community is invited to come out and enjoy some good food, adult beverages and music and meet Bruce Mitchell and his dog Tyler of the television show “Swamp People.”

Anyone interested in competing in the cook-off must register his or her team online at www.stjohnunitedway.org or by contacting the St. John United Way office at 985-651-9118. Team registration fee is $50.

Event sponsorships are also available. All sponsors will have their name displayed at the event and will receive complimentary passes to the event.
