Two of Destrehan High School family members are doing “whatever it takes” and taking advantage of wonderful opportunities earned by them. Dillion Hutson (right) and Shelby Rochelle attended a summer program at Ole Miss this summer. Rochelle took an ancient Greek literature class and a political science class as well. Hutson took computer science and Logic 101. Both students received preparation for advanced college classes. All students that attended this program stayed at the residence hall, which gave them a first hand experience of college life. Rochelle and Hutson, with their scores on the ACT of 28 and 29, respectively, had all their expenses paid to this summer program except for their food expenses. With this experience both of these students learned how to awaken their creativity as well as develop further problem solving skills to prepare for college.
