Leola P. Schexnayder, 80, passed away Thursday, Sept. 29, 2011, at her residence. She was a graduate of Destrehan High School and a secretary with the St. Charles Parish School Board and worked with St. Charles Parish Water Works for more than 10 years.

She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Burton “Chief” “Socko” Schexnayder Sr. and is the mother of Morgan (Lahonda) Schexnayder, Cheryl (Randy) Deslatte, Teryl (Susan) Schexnayder, Kerry (Barbara) Schexnayder Sr., Burton Schexnayder Jr., Bryan (Joan) Schexnayder Sr. and Richard (Bobbi) Schexnayder. She was the sister of Aleta Engeron, Thelma Aranyosi and Louis “Buddy” Brock Jr. She leaves behind 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis Pierce Sr. and Corinne Relimpio, one brother, Elridge “Boo” Pierce, and one sister, Jackie Pierce. Visitation and services were held Monday, Oct. 3, 2011, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Destrehan. Interment followed in the church mausoleum.
