RESERVE — East St. John saw the start of its volleyball season delayed last week due to rescheduling, but the Ladycats got things underway this week with a pair of matches this week.

ESJ fell to Karr on Tuesday and most recently De La Salle on Thursday, 25-16, 25-7 and 25-13.

Brittany Deckwa had 12 kills and five aces. Chelsea Pritchett had 24 assists and Sarah Oster had 23 digs for De La Salle.

For East St. John, Direnque Daniels led the way with 13 digs. Leigh Turner and Joi Scioneaux each added a pair of kills. Jessica Sanford added seven assists.

“I was happy with the effort my girls gave on Thursday,” said East St. John coach Avignon Williams. “De La Salle has a great program and playing them just makes us better. We definitely have to improve our offense. We need to be more aggressive.”
