The Distinguished Social Clubs, consisting of the Distinguished Sisters and the Distinguished Brothers, recently held a school supply drive and donated a portion of what was collected to Emily C. Watkins Elementary School in LaPlace. The social clubs, which have members from throughout the New Orleans metro area, are extremely civic-minded and besides doing things like school supply collections, the group hopes to raise enough funds to build a recreation facility for youth in the River Parishes, according to Distinguished Sisters President Penny Hall. Present for the school supply donation were (front row, left to right) students Nicholas Porche, Javai Jones, Kalep Higginbotham, Alyssa Landry, DeVonte’ Anderson, Clifford Adkins and Timothy Williams; and (back row, left to right) Distinguished Sister Michelle Schexnayder, Distinguished Sisters President Penny Hall, school board representative Keith Jones, Distinguished Sister Sharon Green and Distinguished Brothers President Devin Hall.
