East St. John High Cheerleaders shine at summer camp

RESERVE – The East St. John High School Varsity Cheerleading Squad attended summer camp at Southeastern University in early July. The team consists of 25 members under the direction of Teckla Holder. This is Holder’s 15 year as the coach of the team.

The squad won five superior ribbons. They also won the Safety Award and a spirit stick every night for maintaining awesome school spirit and safety throughout the day. On the last day after all of the final evaluations, the ESJH Varsity Cheerleaders won first runner up in the Dance Competition and Grand Champions in the Large Division—Varsity.

In the All-American category, the squad had 11 nominated; five of the 11 became finalists – Bianca Cook, Chelsea Dupuy, Ciara Sanders, Kameryn Poullard and Kelly Robinson. In the Jump-Off competition, nine cheerleaders tried out, and three made it to the top – Bianca Cook, Emily Durapau and Ciara Sanders. The girls worked hard throughout the week and showed lots of leadership qualities.
