St. John the Baptist Parish residents Jerry Jacob, Brian Bertrand, Glenn Chauvin and Butch Remondet unfold an American flag to be raised atop the east bank levee during the parish’s annual Independence Day Celebration Sunday. A large crowd gathered for events held in Reserve, at St. Peter Catholic Church, and in Edgard, at the parish courthouse. In Edgard, the festivities included a salute to the servicemen of St. John Parish. The evening concluded with a 25-minute fireworks display fired from a barge on the Mississippi.
