Gene Arnold Lunsford, 76, died Thursday, June 23, 2011, at River Parishes Hospital. He was a proud Marine Corps veteran and a retired employee of the Veterans Administration Hospital in New Orleans. He was born in New Orleans and was a resident of Chalmette for 42 years and more recently a resident of Walker.

He was the loving husband of Dolores Landreaux Lunsford for 53 years; father of Keith Lunsford (Jill), Lisa Miller (Zak) and Melanie Marsden (Arnie); and grandfather of Lauren Lunsford and Karen and Amy Marsden.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alma and Bertram; two brothers, Raymond and Bertram; and a sister, Kathleen Boggs.

Graveside service will be held at Biloxi National Cemetery in Biloxi, Miss., on Wednesday, June 29, 2011, at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Alzheimers Services of the Capital Area, Baton Rouge, or St. Jude Hospital.
