LAPLACE – Authorities in St. John the Baptist Parish are investigating the parish’s fourth homicide of the year after a 42-year-old Reserve man was found shot on East 14th Street Friday morning.
Capt. Dane Clement, spokesman for the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office, said deputies were called to the 100 block of East 14th Street around 5:22 a.m., where they found the victim had sustained gunshots. The victim, Frank Dwayne Lewis, 42, was transported to River Parishes Hospital in LaPlace where he succumbed to his injuries just after 6 a.m.
Clement said no one else was injured in the incident. As of press time, there were no suspects or motive in the killing.
Of the four homicides in the parish so far this year, three have happened in Reserve. Two other men were shot and killed in separate incidents in early May.
Those shootings occurred within a 10-block span of each other.
Anyone with information on Friday’s shooting should contact St. John Parish detectives at 985-652-6338, or Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.
