LULING — United Way of St. Charles awarded Live United scholarships to six St. Charles Parish high school graduates.

The recipients received a one-time award of $750 in recognition of their commitment to community service and the positive impact they have had on the St. Charles Parish community through their leadership and service. The award is intended to help defray the costs of educational expenses for attending a post-secondary program of their choice.

“This is the second year United Way of St. Charles offered the Live United Scholarship. We are so pleased that not only did we receive more applicants this year but the quality of the applications was very impressive. United Way of St. Charles is happy to be able to support these students who have made such an effort to give back to their community,” stated Kacy Kernan, UWSC director of community service.

Three Live United scholarships were awarded to students at both Destrehan and Hahnville High Schools. The students who received scholarships from Destrehan High School include Amber Wallace, Melissa Raley and Jonathan Snyder. The Hahnville High School students who received Live United scholarships include Savanna Barbee, Blake Fonseca and Jamie Price.
