HAHNVILLE – Authorities in St. Charles Parish are looking for a man who allegedly hijacked a four-wheeler from an 11-year-old Luling boy Tuesday.

Sgt. Dwayne LaGrange, spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office, said the boy was riding his four-wheeler through a field north of Hackberry Street in Luling around 2:51 p.m. when he was approached by an unknown male who threw him off the vehicle. LaGrange said the unknown man then sped away on the four-wheeler.

The boy suffered bruises to the side of his face when he was pulled off the vehicle but was not harmed otherwise, LaGrange said. Following the incident, the boy contacted his grandfather, who called the Sheriff’s Office.

LaGrange said a witness saw a man driving a black four-door vehicle following the four-wheeler away from the scene. He said deputies later found the four-wheeler abandoned on Canal Street not far from where it was taken.

Anyone with any information regarding the incident is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 985-783-1135 or 985-783-6807.
