Homer Lee Bates Jr., 51, passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2011. He was an automotive mechanic for Kenner Starter and Generator.

He is survived by his sister, Brenda A. Smith; his lifelong partner, Joseph Beal; three nieces, Angelle Nicolle Smith and Holly and Kristy Zeigler; three nephews, Kim P. Smith Jr. and Aiden J. and David Zeigler; an uncle, Jim Pierce; and an aunt, Barbara Roselle. He also leaves behind many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer L. Bates Sr. and Nell J. Pierce; two sisters, Glenda Gayle Bates and Lenda Bates Duhe; and one uncle, Henry Bates.
