LAPLACE – A Reserve man who confessed to stabbing a LaPlace man during a fight in a bar Wednesday evening turned himself in to authorities Thursday afternoon, according to St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s officials.
Corey Ceaser Sr., 41, walked into the Sheriff’s Office’s Criminal Investigation Division at noon Thursday and told detectives he stabbed a 55-year-old man in the neck after an argument at a bar in the 400 block of East Airline Highway Wednesday night just before midnight, said Capt. Dane Clement, spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office.
According to the report from the Sheriff’s Office, the argument erupted on the back patio of the bar when a drink was knocked out of someone’s hand. The victim told responding deputies he and Ceaser exchanged words and Ceaser stabbed him in the neck.
The victim, whose name was not released, was taken to River Parishes Hospital and later transferred to University Hospital in New Orleans. No one else was injured in the incident.
On Thursday, Ceaser came to the Sheriff’s Office on his own accord and confessed to the stabbing, Clement said. Ceaser told detectives he felt remorse for his actions. Clement said Ceaser was charged with aggravated battery. He is being held at the Sherman Walker Correctional Facility in LaPlace where he is awaiting a bond hearing.
