Help a family this weekend

I believe that nothing pleases God more than when his people come together to aid a family that is going through a serious trial. This Saturday, the public is invited to participate in an unselfish outpouring of love and an opportunity to support and contribute to such a cause.

On Oct. 27 of last year, Glenn and Emily Duhe were blessed with the birth of twins. The newborns, a girl they named Allie and her brother, Aiden, were the joy of her parents, the extended family and the community.

Two months later, during the Christmas season, the excitement of the birth of Allie and Aiden turned to concern for Allie’s health. Not able to gain weight or breathe easily, it was diagnosed that she had a serious heart defect.

With surgical procedures at the New Orleans Children’s Hospital and the Children’s Hospital in Boston, Allie is now home, but more surgery will be needed in the future.

With the support of family and friends and God’s strength, the couple has been able to cope, one day at a time, expecting a miracle.

Needless to say, the cost of such medical services is unbelievable. What can we do to assist the family?

On Saturday night, at the New Orleans Hamburger and Seafood Restaurant in LaPlace, a percentage of the sales between 5:30 and 8:30 p.m. will be donated to help the family with their expenses.

Let’s show our love and support to the family this Saturday, May 14.
