LAPLACE – The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office said Monday that deputies are investigating a second homicide in Reserve after a man was found shot inside a home Sunday evening.
Capt. Dane Clement, spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office, said deputies were called to a home on East 23rd Street just after 10 p.m. Sunday, where they discovered a man shot inside. Clement said the investigation is in its early stages and no other information is immediately available.
The incident comes just two days after a 23-year-old man was found shot in the head and lying in a ditch in the 100 block of East 13th Street in Reserve.
Clement said the victim in that shooting, Jamar Vinnette was pronounced dead at the scene. Witnesses told investigators that a male subject walked up to the victim and shot him. The alleged gunman, who fled the area on foot toward East 12th Street, was described as wearing dark clothing. Detectives have no motive and no suspect in that shooting.
Clement said detectives have not ruled out the possibility that both incidents are related, but added that there is no evidence yet that ties the two shootings together.
Anyone with information regarding this incident should call St. John the Baptist Parish Detectives at 985-652-6338 or Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.
