LAPLACE – Local Community Coffee Company representative Mark Golay presented $1241 to St Joan of Arc School for participating in the Community Cash for Schools program.

Every year since 1989 Community Coffee Company’s customers have helped raise money through the Community Cash for Schools Program for participating schools across the Gulf Coast. In March and April, those schools received their Cash for Schools checks from the company.

“Our Community Cash for Schools program continues to be an effective way that neighborhoods can raise money for their local schools,” said fourth-generation family member and Community Coffee Company President Matt Saurage.

Schools collect Community Brand product UPC labels from students, parents and teachers, as well as local restaurants, offices, churches and other businesses. Schools in south Louisiana can also collect points through the use of loyalty cards at CC’s Community Coffee House locations. Last year, schools collected more than 3 million UPCs in exchange for cash donations. The money can be used in any way the school sees fit, such as technology, instructional resources, professional development for teachers, summer programs, field trips, playground equipment or facilities improvements.

Schools must register for the program each year. They can sign up and get information, clip art, ideas for communicating with parents and other resources on Community’s website at www.CommunityCoffee.com/CashforSchools. Cash for Schools checks are awarded to schools in the spring.
