BATON ROUGE — Christian Life turned the tables on west St. John last week, downing the Rams in five innings by the 10-run rule, 11-0, in a District 9-1A game.

It came less than three weeks after WSJ downed CLA by the 10-run rule.

West St. John collected two hits in the game, one by Rashad Smith and another by Renaldo Trench.

Christian Life broke a 0-0 tie in the fourth inning by scoring 11 runs. The Crusaders retired the Rams in order in the fifth.

“We came out and played three innings of good baseball,” said Rams’ coach Lennix Madere. “Then we make a string of errors and give up 11 runs in an inning. You win that game, you’re for sure in the playoffs. So that one is disappointing.”

Madere said that he believes the Rams will still get in, but that he doesn’t like the prospect of “backing in”.

West St. John can potentially go in on a winning note if it wins today at Ascension Christian in the final game, and district game, of the season.

The Rams also defeated East Iberville by forfeit on Monday. The Tigers could not secure officials in time for the game.

West St. John is 5-6 in District 9-1A and 8-12 overall.
