LAPLACE – Authorities in St. John the Baptist Parish have arrested a man, who is accused of stabbing two men during an argument in LaPlace.

Allen Snyder Jr., 35, turned himself in to authorities just after 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, said Capt. Dane Clement, spokesman for the St. John Sheriff’s Office. Snyder was arrested just a few hours after investigators obtained a warrant for his arrest on attempted second-degree murder charges in connection with an April 2 stabbing incident in LaPlace.

The incident took place in the 400 Block of Airline Highway just after 11:30 p.m. on April 2, Clement said. Snyder is accused of attempted second-degree murder for stabbing a 39-year-old man in the chest.

According to a Sheriff’s Office report, Snyder allegedly stabbed the man and also cut a 27-year-old man trying to assist the first victim. Clement said it is unclear where the stabbing took place, but both victims and other witnesses were able to identify Snyder as the attacker. The 39-year-old was taken to River Parishes Hospital in LaPlace, and later transferred to University Hospital in New Orleans, where he was treated for injuries.

Snyder was booked into the Sherman Walker Correctional Facility in LaPlace Tuesday afternoon. Bond has not been set.
