LAPLACE – Two Reserve men were injured Saturday following a stabbing incident in LaPlace, according to a release from the St. John the Baptist Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were called to the 400 block of East Airline Highway in LaPlace just after 11:30 p.m., where a 39-year-old man was stabbed in the chest and a 27-year-old man was cut on the right arm, said Capt. Dane Clement, a spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office.

Clement said the 39-year-old man was driven to River Parishes Hospital in LaPalce and later transferred to University Hospital in New Orleans, where he was in serious but stable condition. Clement said the other victim, who was cut trying to get the perpetrator off the first victim, received no medical attention.

When deputies spoke to witnesses, it was unclear where the altercation took place, Clement said. The perpetrator fled the scene in an unknown direction after the stabbing. Detectives have interviewed and continue to interview witnesses.

Anyone with information regarding this incident should call St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff Detectives at 985-359-8769 or Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.
