Rodney L. Cambre Sr., 80, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, March 24, 2011, at 6 a.m. He was a lifelong resident of Norco.

He was the beloved husband of 52 years of Jean Marie Louviere Cambre, father of Rodney L. Cambre Jr., Michelle C. Duhe (Doyle), Andre E. Cambre (Leslie), Denise A. Cambre and Carey C. Rochelle (George); brother of Carolyn C. Alleman (the late Dr. Earl Alleman), Dr. Robert G. Cambre (Janice), Harold A. “Cooney” Cambre (Diane), Patricia C. Walters and the late Maurice J. Cambre Jr. (Camille); son of the late Maurice J. Cambre Sr. and Hilda Gabb Cambre and grandfather of Cameron, Aaron, Clayton and Caroline Cambre, George, Shelby and Abby Rochelle and Meredith and Michael Duhe.

Rodney retired from Shell Oil Refinery of Norco after more than 30 years of service. He was a U.S. Army corporal and served during the Korean War as well as a member of the Norco Area Volunteer Fire Department. He served as fire chief for several years. He was past president of the River Road Historical Society, former board member of the Port of South Louisiana, parishioner of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, a member of the American Legion Post 195 and Knights of Columbus Council 3634 and an avid LSU football fan.

Visitation and services were held on Monday, March 28, 2011, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Norco. Interment followed at St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery in Destrehan. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Alzheimer’s Association, 2405 River Road, Jefferson, LA 70121.
