Armed robbery in Reserve

LAPLACE – Authorities in St. John the Baptist Parish are investigating an armed robbery Friday involving a 48-year-old Reserve man was accosted inside his own home.

The robbery happened at about 9:30 p.m. Friday in the 100 block of East 10th Street in Reserve, said Capt. Dane Clement, spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office. The victim told deputies when he entered his home a male subject confronted him with a gun. 

Clement said investigators are not sure if the suspect was inside the home before the victim entered or if they entered at the same time. The suspect approached the front of the house from a rear door.

According to a report from the Sheriff’s Office, the suspect pointed a gun at the victim and asked for his cash. The victim surrendered an undisclosed sum of money to the suspect, who fled the residence through the rear door. 

Clement said no one was injured during the incident.

LaPlace shooting investigated

LAPLACE – St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s investigators are seeking information on a shooting in LaPlace Friday that injured a 30-year-old LaPlace man.

Capt. Dane Clement, spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office, said the incident took place just after 10 p.m. in the 200 block of Paula Drive in LaPlace. When deputies arrived on the scene, they found the victim with a graze wound to the inner thigh.

Clement said the man was transported to River Parishes Hospital in LaPlace, where he was treated and released.

Clement said the victim told detectives the shooter was in a gray car with tinted windows and Texas license plates. Authorities are continuing to get information from the victim, and the investigation is ongoing.
