Myra Madere Vass joined her Lord and Savior on Friday, March 11, 2011, in Houston. She was a native of Hahnville and was born Sept. 30, 1933. She was a graduate of Hahnville High School, class of 1951. She had resided in Destrehan for several years and was a parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.

Myra will be greatly missed by her six children, Patti Babineaux Chigoy (Thomas), Ricki Babineaux, Lauri Babineaux Stuart (Thomas), Wesley Babineaux (Mary Falgout), Geralyn Babineaux Hosmer (Chris) and Darren Babineaux, 14 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and three siblings, Anna Russell, Donald Arnold, and Dean Arnold.

She was the wife of the late Eldon Vass by second marriage, and the late Joseph Babineaux by first marriage.

She was preceded in death by her father, Wilton Madere, step-father, Wesley E. Arnold, and mother, Beatrice Gourgues Arnold.

Visitation and services were held at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Destrehan on Wednesday, March 16, 2011, followed by interment in St. Charles Borromeo Mausoleum.
