United Way 15th annual 5K bridge run and festival

LULING — United Way of St. Charles is hosting its 15th annual 5K Bridge Run/Walk on Saturday, April 2, presented by Norco Manufacturing Complex and co-presented by Valero St. Charles Refinery.
The race starts at 8:30 a.m. at East Bank Bridge Park in Destrehan and crosses the Hale Boggs Bridge to the West Bank Bridge Park in Luling. Winners of the 5K Bridge Run will receive a combined prize purse of $3,500 and custom race medallions.
Pre-registration is available for $25 per person until March 26. After March 26, race registration is $30 per person through race day.
To register for the race, visit www.uwaysc.org or register in person at the United Way office, 13207 River Road in Luling. On-site registration is also available Friday, April 1, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Bridge Park in Luling and on race day, Saturday, April 2, starting at 7:30 a.m. at the Bridge Park in Destrehan.
After the Bridge Run, United Way of St. Charles is having a post race activities at the Bridge Park in Luling until noon. Admission to the post race festivities is free. Attendees can enjoy music by Reese Chaisson, food, games, massages and much more.
United Way of St. Charles is also hosting a Kids Fun Run for children 12 and under. This half mile run is being held at the West Bank Bridge Park in Luling following the 5K run. All finishers will receive a participation ribbon.
Last year, over 1,500 runners and walkers participated in the Bridge Run. The Bridge Run is held each year to raise awareness of and funds for the United Way of St. Charles.
United Way of St. Charles is a nonprofit organization that works to create lasting changes in St. Charles Parish by funding agencies and developing program that target education, income and health.

TRAFFIC ADVISORY: On Saturday, April 2, the I-310 exit ramp in Destrehan closes at 8 a.m. All westbound traffic on the Hale Boggs Bridge will be one lane from approximately 7:30 a.m. until approximately 10:30 a.m.
