Maison Oaks Assisted Living Center in LaPlace celebrated the feast of St. Joseph’s Day a little early Wednesday with an altar for residents of the home. Home employees Glassy Wallace and Chipley Burch (left to right) prepare plates of food for the residents from the altar’s full spread. There is still plenty of time this weekend to visit other altars on display across the River Parishes.

In LaPlace, Ascension of Our Lord Church, 1900 Greenwood Drive, will have a morning viewing, from 10 a.m. to noon, and an evening viewing, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., today, as well as a viewing Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to noon. In Vacherie, St. Joseph Plantation Home, 3535 Louisiana 18, honors its Italian heritage with an altar in the parlor all day today. Viewing times are from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and admission is free. In Norco, Sacred Heart of Jesus Church is presenting an altar at the home of Tony and Clara Perret, at 211 Mary St. The altar will be open for viewing today from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. (Staff photo by Robin Shannon)
