BATON ROUGE –Make plans today to attend Girl Scouts Louisiana East’s Camp Open House and see what each Girl Scout camp has to offer. Open house for resident camp will be held at Camp Marydale in St. Francisville on Sunday, April 10, from 1 – 3 p.m., and at Camp Whispering Pines in Independence on today, and Sunday, April 10 from 1 – 3 p.m. Camp open house provides the perfect opportunity to ask any questions about resident camp, tour the camp’s living units, meet some of the camp staff, and learn about the different camp sessions.

According to Donna Dupre, resident camp director for Camp Marydale, Girl Scouts and non-Girl Scouts, ages 6 – 17, are eligible to attend resident camp which runs from June 5 to July 15 with sessions lasting three to 13 days and costing from $125 to $400.

Girl Scout resident camp programs are accredited by the American Camp Association which means they undergo a thorough review process by outside camping professionals every three years, achieving the highest standard in the areas of personnel, program, site administration, and health care.

Camp Marydale’s facilities include a sports field, archery field, low-ropes challenge course, hiking trails and swimming pool, in addition to its equestrian center with two riding arenas.
