LAPLACE – Authorities in St. John the Baptist Parish arrested a Reserve man on various theft charges Thursday after he was found to be in possession of an assortment of stolen goods from burglaries in LaPlace.

Lensey Anderson III, 23, of Homewood Place, was arrested after deputies pulled him over during an investigative traffic stop when they found and identified some of the stolen goods inside his vehicle, said Capt. Dane Clement, a spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office.

Clement said the deputies were responding to an anonymous tip that subjects were loading stolen goods into a car at a residence on Homewood Place in Reserve. Following the arrest, detectives executed a search warrant of Anderson’s Homewood Place address, where they discovered more items reported stolen in three previously reported burglaries in LaPlace.

Clement said the items, which were reported stolen from a business on Airline Highway in LaPlace and residences on Spyglass Lane and Cartier Drive, included rims, tires, a computer, audio equipment and video game equipment. The total value of the recovered property was about $22,000.

Anderson was charged with possession of stolen things valued at more than $500 and possession of stolen things valued at more than $300 but less than $500, Clement said. He was also booked on a probation violation as well as two counts of being a fugitive of the St. James Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Clement said Anderson is being held at the Sherman Walker Correctional Facility in LaPlace without bond pending the outcome of the investigation.

He said Anderson could face additional charges and added that more arrests are possible.
