East St. John collected its first win last Thursday over Bonnabel, but the Wildcats are trying to regain their footing after losing four games since.

The Wildcats (1-6) beat the Bruins 4-3, but dropped three games at the Thibodaux tournament last weekend and fell to AOL Thursday, 19-0.

D’iranique Daniels went 3-for-3 and scored the winning run against Bonnabel in the sixth and final inning (the game was called because of darkness), scoring on a wild pitch. Shaela Millet went 2-for-3 as well.

“The girls dug deep and came together,” said East St. John coach Monica Hebert. “We played well in that game, we’ve just been trying to recapture it since.”

East St. John scored runs in each of the first three innings and led 3-1, but Bonnabel scored runs in the sixth and seventh innings to tie the game.

Against AOL, Jessica Sanford collected the Wildcats’ only hit.

Hebert said that her team is still trying to find itself after a tough start, and will use its upcoming week off to adjust some things.

“We’re off to a slow start. A couple of players are out right now,” she said. “We’re moving people around. We’ve got a lot of youth, a lot of sophomores and juniors.

“So we’re going through some growing pains.”
