LAPLACE – With demand already beating last year’s purchases, the LaPlace Lions Club has decided to extend the deadline to purchase tickets to the Krewe DuMonde Ball to Feb. 26.
The deadline was originally set for Jan. 26, but ticket sales exceeded the pace of last year, and as a result, more time was needed to accommodate the requests.
“We hope everyone in St. John will join us for this exciting community event,” said DuMonde Ball Committee Chair Donna Flynn. “We extended the ticket deadline to make sure everyone who wants to come to this great event has a chance to get their ticket.”
The DuMonde Ball, hosted by the LaPlace Lions Club, is being held this year at the Pontchartrain Center in Kenner on Saturday, March 5, at 7 p.m. The theme of this year’s ball revolves around college football and includes several rival teams.
Tickets are $125 per couple and are available for purchase at Formal Connection, 299 Belle Terre Blvd., LaPlace, or by calling 985-652-1195. All proceeds from the ball go toward various charitable causes supported by the Lions Club.
In addition to the DuMonde Ball, the LaPlace Lions Club also organizes the DuMonde parade, which will take place in LaPlace on Sunday, March 6, at noon.
Parade participants are reminded the final organization meeting will take place this evening at the LaPlace public library on Highway 51.
For more information, interested parties can contact parade organizer Melynie Wright at 985-651-1926. Wright said so far, the parade consists of 25 floats and a variety of bands and dance groups.
“Last year was a record year for the parade, and this year looks just as promising,” Wright said. “We enjoy organizing this great community event every year.”
