Dr. George H. Herrmann slipped the earthly bonds in the late evening of Jan. 22, 2011, at the age of 82.

He was born George IV Henry Christian Herrmann in Fort Wayne, Ind., on July 25, 1928, to George III Rudolph Herrmann and Anna Harriet Williams Herrmann. He received a bachelor’s degree from Sul Ross State Teachers College and a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston.

He practiced general medicine briefly in Castroville, Texas, then beginning in 1956 in Del Rio, Texas, where he practiced for 22 years. He worked for DuPont Chemical as an occupational physician from 1978 until 1994 in La Porte, Texas, and LaPlace. He resided in retirement in Rocksprings, Texas, beginning in 1994.

He earned the affectionate nickname of “Doc,” by which he was known to most of his friends.
