The blessings of a large family

Liv Keller Canizaro came into this world early Monday morning at 10:30 a.m. Liv is our fourth great-grandchild. The other three great-grandchildren are boys: Jaden, Dylan, and Liv’s brother, Caleb. Liv’s parents are Josh and Amber Canizaro. Amber is the daughter of my son, Matt, and his wife, Monica. I really don’t have a reason to give you the lineage other than the fact that Jeanne and I are excited about the new member of our extended family.
With 15 grandchildren, and now four great-grandchildren, God has blessed us abundantly. Jeanne and I were just experiencing withdrawal symptoms because Kameron and Victoria, our two youngest grandchildren and both students at St. Charles Catholic High School, really don’t need us anymore. It’s been said, and I believe, that God will send you what you need when you need it. In His faithfulness, He has sent us great-grandchildren.
The Bible says grandchildren are the crown of old men. I don’t think it says anything about great-grandchildren, but I believe they are added jewels to the crown. Getting back to our new addition, Liv Keller Canizaro, I’m excited to report she is a healthy, bouncing 7 pound, 9 ounce, 21 inches long baby girl. When I first heard the name, Liv, I was curious to know how Josh and Amber decided on that name. I understand it is short for Olivia. When I first asked, “Why Liv?” they both said they just like the name. That’s enough for Jeanne and I. We like it, too.
Having 15 grandchildren who were raised within three miles of us all of their lives, we were spoiled. We had our share of babysitting, experiencing them growing up, going to school and bringing them lunches. We also took them to doctor’s visits, orthodontist appointments and enjoyed all of their sporting events. Things are different with the great-grandchildren. Liv and Caleb live in Birmingham, Ala. Jaden is in San Diego. with our granddaughter Brandi, and her husband, Tim, who is in the Navy. That leaves Dylan, who lives in LaPlace with his parents, Kerri and Justin. Believe me, when he’s around he keeps us all amused and his high energy level has us on pins and needles concerned that maybe one day we will be asked to babysit.
With all that said, God has watched over our family all of these years and we give Him thanks for being not only our provider, but our protector.
