Lionel “Torriet” Laurent Sr., 86, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011.

He was the beloved husband of the late Anna Mae Vicknair Laurent and father of Lionel Laurent Jr. (Beverly), Danny (Doris) and Melissa (Dwayne). He is also survived by five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was son of the late Rameil and Zeolide Laurent, brother of Miriam Guidry (Jay), brother-in-law of Lorraine Spraracino and cousin of Ralph Miller.

He was an Army veteran of World War II. He retired from Shell Oil, played and coached baseball and loved gardening and woodworking and riding his scooter.

Visitation will be at Millet-Guidry Funeral Home, 2806 W. Airline Highway, LaPlace, on Monday, Jan. 17, 2011, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. followed by religious services at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery in Reserve.
