Students from the Harry M. Hurst Middle School band auditioned for the District VII honor bands against a talented pool of music students from across the district. Students performed one by one for the judges and were ranked from first to last. Only a predetermined number of students were selected to perform for the honor band concert that will be held on Jan. 15 at 3 p.m. at the H.L. Bourgeois High School auditorium in Houma. Seven students were chosen for the honor of representing Harry M. Hurst Middle School at the performance. They are (front row, left to right) All-Youth Honor Band Taylor Lucich – ninth clarinet, Darshak Chudasama – second percussion and Catie Toal – first oboe; and (back row, left to right) Junior High Honor Band Hunter Gierhart – fifth trombone, Bailey Lanier – third percussion, J. T. Brown – first tuba and Hannah McDuffie – second flute.
