Michael “Mike” Joseph Michel Sr., age 64, passed away on Monday, Dec. 13, 2010, at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge with his immediate family present. He was retired from Freeport/ IMC after 33 years of service.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Rose Michel; two sons: Michael J. Michel Jr. (wife Erin) and Brandon Michel (wife Erika); two daughters: Rachel Reichley and Dana Roques (husband Thomas); brother Lawrence J. “Boogie” Michel Jr.; two sisters: Linette M. Decareaux and Mary Catherine Bourgeois; and eight grandchildren: Olivia Reichley, Abbey, Alex, Alexis and Ava Michel, Colin, Colby and Hadley Roques.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence J. Michel Sr. and Irma Cambre Michel.

Visitation was held on Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010, at the H.C. Alexander Funeral Home in Lutcher and continued on Friday, Dec. 17, 2010, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Paulina. Mass of Christian Burial followed at the church. Burial followed in the St. Joseph Cemetery.

Mike had a love for his family, music and cooking. He imparted his love for life through his laughter and jokes onto everyone who knew him.
