Officials with State Police recently presented St. John the Baptist Parish fire and law enforcement authorities with recognition plaques for their cooperation with assorted State Police details conducted throughout the parish. Troop B Master Trooper Chris Maurin said over the past year, State Police has conducted DWI checkpoints, railroad safety details, insurance and seatbelt compliance checks and a mock fatality crash with full cooperation from parish authorities. Maurin said State Police has always had an open and cordial relationship with parish officials, which, he said, is not always the case in other parts of the state.
