Volleyballteams learn seedings

RESERVE – Three St. John Parish schools and five River Parish schools overall can count themselves as postseason qualifiers in volleyball.

Riverside, St. Charles, West St. John, Lutcher and Destrehan will all begin its respective playoff journeys this week.

The Rebels earned the No. 9 seed in Division IV, just missing a bye, and will host No. 24 Mansfield at 5 p.m. on Thursday evening.

Division IV No. 22 seed St. Charles will be on the road Thursday and will face a familiar opponent in No. 11 seed Lusher, which the Comets have played against twice already this season. Lusher won both matches. The playoff meeting between the teams is scheduled for 4 p.m. in New Orleans.

West St. John will also face a familiar opponent in No. 10 White Castle, who will host a first round matchup. The Rams are seeded 23rd in Division V. The Bulldogs defeated West St. John in mid-September. That game will be Thursday, but the time was no yet set as of presstime.

Lutcher is ranked 10th in Division III and will host No. 23 Sarah Reed at 5 p.m. Thursday.

Destrehan is the No. 9 seed in Division I and will host John Ehret. That playoff game was not available at press time.
