Each year since 1986, the Great 100 Nurses Foundation honors who they consider to be Louisiana’s 100 greatest nurses. This year, St. Charles Parish Hospital nurses Jean Hill, MHA, RN, ONC and Peter Keller, MSN, CCRN were recognized as two of the Great 100 Nurses of Louisiana.

Nurses are nominated by peers, family members, friends or patients who must answer three questions: What has the nominated nurse done for humanity, what has the candidate done for the profession, and how has this person served as a mentor or role model for other nurses? An anonymous group of reviewers then score the unidentified nominees based on nominators’ answers to determine the Great 100.

Jean Hill, a nurse of 25 years, said, “I am honored to be recognized as a Great 100 Nurse. Over the years, I feel that I have made a difference in the lives of the patients I have treated and have made life-long friendships with co-workers along the way. Nursing has been a very rewarding, as well as challenging, career.”

According to Peter Keller, who has been a nurse for 5 years, “This was a real surprise to me. It just feels good to know that your peers think you do your job well enough to recognize you.”
