PLAQUEMINE — West St. John faced a tough test against an upper division school in Plaquemine on Tuesday, falling in three games 20-25, 18-25, 14-25.

Brittany Tuco logged a pair of aces and Deja Feist led the Rams in kills with two.

Rams assistant coach Nelann Taylor said that while the loss stung, the Rams appeared to be trending in the right direction on the court.

“I thought that although we lost, the girls played with a lot of heart,” said Taylor. “More heart, less attitude, and that’s something that will add up to wins as we go forward.”

West St. John (2-6) has time to further refine its game as the Rams do not play again until next Saturday, Oct. 9, when they compete in the East St. John tournament.

Taylor said the biggest improvement she’d like to see from the team over the next week is in its ability to set up and finish plays.

“More kills,” said Taylor. “We want to have more situations where we’re set up to slam it down, and not just popping it back over the net.”
