LAPLACE – One of the newest nightspots in LaPlace, Cadillac’s Rock ‘n’ Country Saloon, is aiming to bring some high-profile acts to the River Parishes.

Vince Breeding, who books performers for the club, said he hopes to bring in national acts.

Eschewing its moniker, the club will host comedian Gallagher Friday. Attendees should dress appropriately as Gallagher, who rose to fame in the early ‘80s with an act that included smashing watermelons, will have his “sledge-o-matic” in tow.

The show starts at 9 p.m., and tickets are $20.

The ‘80s flashback will continue later in the month when the Fixx stops by Cadillac’s. The band had a hit in 1983 with “One Thing Leads to Another.”

Doors open at 7 p.m., and the show starts at 8:45. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 the day of the show.

Finally, “American Idol” finalist Bucky Covington will hit the stage Oct. 15.

The country singer is not a household name like his fellow season member Chris Daughtry, but according to Breeding, “He’s the kid on ‘American Idol’ that everybody loved.”
