Hospital needs volunteers

River Parishes Hospital is currently seeking caring and compassionate individuals to volunteer at the hospital. The volunteers at River Parishes Hospital say they get such a gratifying feeling from helping those in need that they often feel like they benefit from volunteering just as much as the people they serve.
In order to become a volunteer, individuals must be 18 years of age or older and have completed their high school education. Volunteers have the opportunity to choose the area in which they would like to donate their time. Plus, they are able to set their own hours. Most importantly, they feel like a welcomed part of the RPH family as they make new friends on our hospital team.
The only thing asked of our volunteers, according to hospital representatives, is to have a warm and caring attitude and a willingness to contribute a least one half day a week to help patients, staff and visitors. Volunteer opportunities are available on many nursing units and in the gift shop and Admitting Department. Volunteers receive a complimentary meal each day they volunteer.
The hospital holds a number of activities each year for employees, physicians and volunteers to get together, relax and have fun, such as the annual summer picnic and holiday celebration. During National Volunteer Week, volunteers have the opportunity to participate in a week of activities including an annual awards banquet. The hospital also rings in the Christmas holidays with a Christmas luncheon complete with games and prizes.
