LAPLACE – An independent group of financial advisors recently added a new local member to the team.

LPL Financial announced recently that Dodi Vicknair of Luling has joined the LaPlace office.

Vicknair comes to LPL Financial after spending the past 11 years working as a banker and financial advisor at Capital One in Houma.

“I saw it as a good opportunity to work a little closer to home,” Vicknair said. “I think it was a good fit for both sides.”

Brock M. Anderson, a private wealth manager for LPL, said his business recently acquired expanded office space and had been looking to add a new independent broker to the group. He said LPL has seen a great deal of growth in the three years he has been in the LaPlace area.

“Even with the recent decline in the markets nationally, we are still seeing an expanded client base,” Anderson said. “It is a testament to our hands-on investment firm philosophy.”

Anderson said he and the other agents at the firm offer an “unbiased approach” to life planning and retirement investment.

He said LPL works as a guide to financial questions.

“We aren’t pushing specific products,” Anderson said. “We just offer up options.”

Vicknair said she was attracted by the freedom of being an independent broker.

“There is a vast amount of products available to you when you are independent,” she said. “You are able to do more for the client. I like the personal touch here, where we are able to help our clients 100 percent.”
