LUTCHER – Lutcher High School celebrated the 23rd Annual Academic Champions of Education Banquet with a record 94 qualifying students with their parents. The program was hosted by Motiva Enterprises in Convent and held at Elegant Affairs in Gonzales. Students must maintain a minimum 3.5 GPA and have no grade of “C” from the high school campus.

The ACE Banquet can be a four-year program. Lutcher recognized 61 first year, 12 second year, 13 third year and eight fourth year winners.

The evening featured a steak dinner, awards, comments by Lutcher High School Principal Eugene Hoover and Motiva General Manager David Brignac and entertainment pitting the students against their parents in an amusing competition. Also attending the banquet were St. James Parish School Superintendent Alonzo Luce, as well as many members of the St. James Parish School Board.

Motiva sponsors the event annually to highlight excellence in academic achievement at the

high school level. Commenting on the event, Brignac said, “This is

an opportunity to give something back to our community and to recognize classroom success. We are very passionate about helping to improve education in St. James Parish, and the ACE Banquet commends this level of student achievement.”
