LAPLACE — St. John Parish officials said this morning that the boil water order for the Edgard area on the west bank was officially lifted at 10:15 a.m.
The order had been in place since 4:15 p.m. Sunday, when a tree fell on a power line causing an outage at the Edgard water treatment plant. A back-up diesel generator had kept the plant running for about two hours, but a clog in the fuel filter forced work crews to shut down the generator for maintenance.
“The pressure in the lines is back to normal and the Department of Health and Hospitals has declared the water safe to consume,” said St. John Chief Administrative Officer Marie Brown-Mercadel.
