LAPLACE – Authorities in St. John the Baptist Parish arrested 15-year-old boy from Garyville and are looking for a 21-year-old Garyville man, who were both allegedly involved in a shooting that took place on South Fig Street earlier this month.

Capt. Dane Clement, public information officer for the Sheriff’s Office, said the boy was booked with attempted first-degree murder after he fired shots at a 22-year-old Garyville man during the June 14 shooting. He is being held without bond at the St. Bernard Juvenile Detention Center.

Clement said Craig Lee, whose last known address is on South Fig Street, is the man who remains at large. The Sheriff’s Office did not reveal what led detectives to determine Lee, who sustained gunshot wounds to both legs, was a suspect.

According to a release regarding the shooting, the incident occurred just after 1 a.m. in the 300 block of South Fig Street. The victim, who was not identified, was not injured in the shooting but fired shots in self-defense that hit Lee in the legs.

Clement said Lee was treated and released from a New Orleans hospital before it was determined he was a suspect. Authorities are still investigating the incident and have no motive in the shooting.

Anyone knowing the whereabouts of Lee should call St. John Detectives at 985-359-8769 or Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.
