Ascension Community Theatre is presenting its 10th Anniversary Summer Musical, the product of Broadway’s Golden Age, “Gypsy.”

“Gypsy” runs at the Pasqua Theatre July 8 through 10 and 15 through 17 at 7 p.m. and July 11 and 18 at 2 p.m. Special Gala Dinner Theatre performances will be held July 23 and 24. Tickets are available now. Call the Box Office Hotline at 225-647-1230.

Based on the memoirs of famed stripper Gypsy Rose Lee, “Gypsy” tells the backstage tale of the untalented, uneducated and unnoticed Louise’s rise from obscurity to the Queen of the Striptease at the hands of the ultimate stage mother, Mama Rose. The show, with a book by Arthur Laurents, music by Jule Styne and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, features such standards as “Let Me Entertain You,” “All I Need is the Girl,” and “Everything’s Coming Up Roses.”
