NORCO — Riverlands racked up its second straight River Parish Swim League victory on Thursday night, taking a win over host Sun Villa by a score of 319.50-230.50.

After falling to 0-2 to begin the year, the Stingrays seem to be rounding into form, says first year coach Lindsey Eichhorn.

“We entered into a rebuilding year with a lot of new swimmers,” said Eichhorn. “Sun Villa is a team with a lot of good, year round swimmers, never a team you can take for granted. We’re on a bit of a streak now.”

William Torres and Anna Guidry swept their individual events, taking three first place finishes each.

Brett Landry, Alex Zenicki, Elise Loisel, Daniel Jaubert and Emma Dooley each captured a pair of first place finishes.

Merryn Guidry, Stevie Noyes, Wesley Melancon, Jacob Palmature, Luke Perret, Raigen Cosse, Jack Chapman, Riley LeBlanc and Elizabeth Prince rounded out the first place winners for Riverlands (2-2).

Eichhorn said some tweaks to the relay lineups helped her team to clinch the win.

“We had to shuffle, move some people up,” said Eichhorn.

“It helps that when you go into relays, you know how much you’re up or down by. It allows you to see who’s swimming well in each stroke and change accordingly.”

Eichhorn says the feeling generated by the team’s winning ways has carried into practice.

“I made a poster with all the times for each swimmer, and the kids get so excited when I put it up at practice,” said Eichhorn. “They’re enjoying themselves.”
